Alemão (Rio de Janeiro), video installation, 2016 – in progress

Four screenings installation, HD, color, no sound
30-minute-long loop.

In 1860, Nadar wrote when he discovered sky photography: “The earth unfolds in an immense rimless tapestry, with no beginning, and no end.” Alemão (Rio de Janeiro) is an immersive 4-screening video installation. On the left wall, morning. On the front wall, noon. On the right wall, night. Screened above our heads, the ground. Each loop lasts 30 minutes, the duration of a round trip in a cable car above the Complexo do Alemão, a favela in Rio de Janeiro. It’s the story of a city over a day.
